Rosemary Conley is a UK's leading diet and fitness expert with over
30 years' experience of helping people lose weight and get fit. Her
‘diet approach’ includes a low fat diet and regular exercise.
The dieters are given a personalized daily calorie allowance
based on their weight, age and sex. If their calorie allowance is
followed the dieters will lose weight as it is set at a level which
is less than the amount of calories they need to maintain their
weight. It is also set to promote a healthy level of weight loss of
1 to 2lbs a week.
Regular exercise is advised as part of the Rosemary Conley
plan, and an exercise session is held at each weekly class. An
information booklet, calorie and fat counter, audiotape and recipe
cards are provided as part of the membership fee.
Having a breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert each day is advised,
as well as ¾ pint of semi-skimmed milk. Calorie counted balanced
meal ideas, along with recipes, are provided or the dieters can
choose their own meals using the guidance from the classes and the
printed materials. Within the personal calorie allowance, a
150-calorie 'treat' can also be eaten daily (or saved up for a
special occasion each week).
Because this is a low fat diet, Rosemary advises that most of the
food eaten contains no more than 4 per cent fat (or 4g fat per
100g of food).
Notable exceptions are oily fish, which is advised once a week
and the 150 calorie 'treat'. This can be worked out by looking at
food labels or using the 'Calorie and Fat Gram Guide' which gives
the calorie and fat values for thousands of different foods.
